New Book Club Forming

We're excited to announce a SOMA Action Progressive Book Club, in partnership with [words] Bookstore of Maplewood!

Our goal is to engage members more deeply around the issues that animate our commitment to activism and to educate and inspire ourselves and each other to be better advocates for justice.

We hope to grow our connections with each other and our issues by reading a range of books over the next year. We expect to read about four to five books a year, with a goal of reading one book per quarter.

Our first book is Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria? And Other Conversations on Race by Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum.

Join us for our first book club meeting!

Date: July 12
Time: 7:30 pm
Place: The Fox and Falcon (19 Valley St., South Orange)
Bonus: First drink on us!

If you'd like to join us for our first meeting or want to know about upcoming books later in the year, please sign up at the Google form here.

[words] Bookstore in Maplewood has agreed to supply books for us and extend a 20% discount to book club members. Once we have our first group confirmed, we’ll send more info on how to purchase.
