The SOMA Action Ending Gun Violence Committee

SOMA Action formed the Committee to End Gun Violence (CEGV) in the wake of the May 2022 mass shooting in Buffalo. The urgent necessity to stop the gun violence epidemic holding our country hostage became even more clear after the horrors unfolded in Uvalde just a week later.  

The CEGV is committed to identifying and addressing the root causes of the gun violence crisis, namely white supremacy, and giving its members meaningful and regular opportunities to keep this crisis at the center of the political conversation and advocate for urgent change. 

The CECV is divided into the following working groups:

• Federal gun control legislation

• NJ specific gun control legislation

• Parent and school gun safety and education

• Community based prevention and intervention

• Beto For Governor

• Messaging, media and marketing
