Day of Action and Night of Fun
It's been a rough year. We dislodged Donald Trump from the White House, but not Trumpism from the country. The good news? We know how to fight back. It takes all of us--and we need to do it from the ground up. Are you ready? We are!
On September 25th, SOMA Action is hosting our largest mobilizing event ever, and we're going to have some fun while we do it. Join us for any part (or all!) of this Day of Action/Night of Fun!
Vaccinated guests only. Bring proof of vaccination. SOMA Action will be checking Covid vaccination status as participants arrive at the Tennis Club. Any form of verification will suffice: photo on phones, app, cards.
Bring a mask. Masks are required indoors at all times.
We recommend carpooling, or using alternative forms of transportation, especially for the evening event. Onsite parking is limited.
Daytime: Featuring three panel discussions, postcard writing, mural painting, and onsite childcare. (Daytime is Free, $10 suggested donation.)
11:15 am-12:30 pm: Climate Action! Global and Local, Code Red for Humanity.
12:45 - 1:45 pm: Redeeming Cannabis: Racism, the War on Drugs, Social Justice, and Medical Benefits.
2:00 - 3:30 pm: Critical Race Theory: Dismantling Systemic Oppression.
12 - 3 pm: Deadline for Democracy! Write postcards to VA voters.
All afternoon: The Religious Justice Committee Mural Painting.
Nighttime: Featuring Keynote Speaker, DJ + Live Music, locally-catered food, and open bar (Nighttime is $50 a head).
Come dressed to party and let loose!
6 pm: Cocktail hour.
7 pm: Keynote: Mark Morial, President, National Urban League.
7:30 - 9 pm: Live music: Epic Soul!!
9:00 - 11 pm: DJ, outdoor dancing!
