Welcome Amy Higer to the new role of 2020 Election Coordinator!
SOMA Action is thrilled to announce that we’ve brought on a 2020 Election Coordinator to support our efforts starting this week and continuing through the November 3rd election.
We’re even more thrilled to announce that this part-time, paid contractor role is being filled by one of SOMA Action’s earliest and most active members, Amy Higer.
Amy will be supporting our Vanquish the Villains captains as well as working closely with our Political Action Committee, which is leading several of our campaign-related efforts. She’ll be helping to identify additional ways that volunteers can get involved, especially in supporting the races in which SOMA Action has made endorsements.
Amy will be taking a leave of absence from the Board of Trustees until she wraps up this paid work sometime in November. She’ll also be stepping down from her position as co-captain of “Yes We Cal,” the Vanquish the Villains team working to defeat Thom Tillis in North Carolina. She will, however, remain on the team and continue to participate in their outreach efforts on an unpaid basis.
While bringing on part-time help has been a goal of SOMA Action for some time, it became a real possibility thanks to the generosity of our Sustaining Members and donors, who have stepped up their giving in recent months. We were thrilled to learn that Amy was interested and available to fill this important role.
Thanks to all the supporters that made this possible, and best of luck to Amy as she helps us work for the results we want and need in November!
