SA Nominating Committee Seeks Nominees for Board of Trustees

Newly-elected Board members will play a crucial role in determining SOMA Action’s future both programmatically and structurally.

SOMA Action strives for broad representation, including racial, LGBTQ and generational diversity as well as a balance of professional perspectives and expertise and previous leadership experience with SOMA Action or other community organizing work. Of particular interest to our committee are candidates with any combination of the following skills: nonprofit governance, legal expertise, accounting or bookkeeping, fundraising, membership development, communications, a wicked sense of humor, and a general enthusiasm for progressive causes at the local, state or national level.

The Board terms involve a three-year commitment with an option for a renewal of three-years. Check out our current Board!

To nominate a community member* please email info@somaaction.org with your recommendation and a short statement of support by Friday, November 29, 2021. Self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged. To self-nominate, please submit a statement of interest and a short bio. The Nominating Committee will consider the nominations and produce a slate of nominees for ratification.
Should you have any questions about the nominations process, please feel free to email info@somaaction.org.

*Elected Officials are prohibited from serving on the SOMA Action Board of Trustees. Elected officials of a political party, ie  District Leaders, are allowed, but we ask you disclose this at time of nomination.

SOMA Action is a grassroots organization with more than 2000 members in South Orange and Maplewood (“SOMA”) New Jersey whose mission is to drive progressive change. Formed in the wake of the 2016 election, SOMA Action mobilizes residents of our two towns and neighboring communities to advocate for a broad range of progressive policies at the local, state and national level. We pursue results through education, activism, and exerting policy and electoral influence.

SOMA Action is a 501(c)(4) organization. Donations are not tax deductible.
